SAN DIEGO (AP) LaDainian Tomlinson threw a 4th-quarter touchdown pass and ran for the go ahead 10-yard score with 3:39 left as the San Diego Chargers beat the upset-minded Oakland Raiders 21-14.
Tomlinson, who also had a 4-yard TD run in the 2nd quarter, finished with 109 yards on 19 carries. In the midst of an MVP season, Tomlinson has 24 touchdowns and needs 5 in the last 5 games to break the NFL record of 28 set by Seattle's Shaun Alexander last season.
Tomlinson's 19-yard TD pass to Antonio Gates tied the game at 14. It came four plays after a celebratory spike by Vincent Jackson, which the Raiders thought was a fumble setting off 10 minutes of confusion. It was first ruled a recovered fumble by Oakland, but after much discussion, the officials flagged San Diego for illegal forward pass.
San Diego improved to 9-2 and maintains a 2-game lead over Kansas City and Denver in the AFC West. The Raiders are 2-9.
