Some concerned Tulsans don't think the Tulsa Race Riots are being covered thoroughly enough in Oklahoma History classes. With a vote on textbooks, they fear it could be too late to change anything.

They're concerned that Oklahoma history books are leaving students with a warped image of what really happened back in 1921.

For instance, in one Oklahoma History textbook, a timeline says only this: The Tulsa Race Riot resulted in thousands being left homeless. There's no mention of the hundreds of black Tulsans that died.

YWCA board member Justice Waidner: "We want to ensure that the textbooks include very accurate information as to what happened."

Tulsa resident Regina Goodwin: "It is our story. And it might be an ugly story. But it’s our story and what makes it become more attractive is how we deal with it."

The State Textbook Commission will vote on the books Friday. The books they choose will be in use until 2012.
