Typically when students throw things in class they get in trouble, but not Tuesday. Kids at the Tulsa Engineering Academy at 5840 South Hudson got credit for throwing pumpkins from the top of LaFortune Stadium.
The goal, build a pumpkin holder to keep the gourds in one piece. Teacher Lane Matheson: "They were trying to design a device that would absorb the impact of the hit on the ground, but leave the pumpkin in tact, using what they had learned. They could not use materials normally used for packing.â€
Six out of the 8 survived, two went splat.
