A New Mexico air show accident killed a Tulsa pilot and doctor. Friends and fellow pilots are remembering the life and contributions of Dr. Guy Baldwin, or "Doc" as many people called him.
Dr. Baldwin was killed Wednesday when he crashed his stunt plane during an air show in New Mexico. "Doc" Baldwin was a key figure in setting up an air show at the Claremore Airport for several summers. And spent many weekends practicing his stunt flying there.
He didn't have a family connection to Claremore; people say it just became his favorite getaway. Chad Nail with the Claremore Regional Airport: "We're out of the controlled airspace at Riverside Airport, so we have an aerobatic box where they can practice safely without the interference of a lot of other traffic, and we cooked hamburgers and had good times on the weekend, and it's something he looked forward to and loved to do."
The loss of Dr. Baldwin is also being felt by Oklahoma's Make-A-Wish Foundation, where he served as a board member and one of their most avid supporters.
