RIDGELAND, Miss. (AP) _ Former WorldCom CEO Bernie Ebbers left his house in Ridgeland, Mississippi, shortly before 8 a-m today to report to federal prison.
He was convicted earlier this year of securities fraud, submitting false claims to the SEC and conspiracy to commit securities fraud.
Ebbers was also charged in Oklahoma but those charges were dropped following the federal convicitons.
He'll have to serve 21 years and four months of his 25-year sentence before he's eligible for parole.
The Second US Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Ebbers' conviction and sentence last month.
