Some Coweta parents are pushing through their grief in order to reach teenagers with a message about drinking and doing drugs. Their son Wesley Hartsfield was killed two weeks ago.
Coweta Police say the driver was going 90 in a 30, hit a curb, and then slammed into a truck. They say he admitted he was drinking vodka and taking Xanax and Ecstasy.
Wesley's parents say he had drug issues of his own, but had turned his life around. He had graduated from the Thunderbird Youth Academy in June.
His parents hope his death will make other kids change their partying ways. Wesley’s mother Lawantha Hartsfield: "If they cared about Wes enough to attend the funeral, see what that done to him, surely to God, they will straighten up.â€
The driver of the car was 17. He now faces first degree manslaughter charges.
Police are waiting on the drug test results.
