TECUMSEH, Okla. (AP) -- A campaign trailer sporting a state auditor and inspector candidate's name in 7-foot tall letters was stolen from a Tecumseh parking lot.

The $4,000 trailer was parked behind an office building when it was taken Friday night or early Saturday.

Cache Republican Gary Jones says a friend loaned him the trailer to use in the parades he attends during campaign season.

Jones said he can't speculate on whether the theft was politically motivated.

Tecumseh is the hometown of Jones' opponent, Democratic incumbent state Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan.

McMahan says he and his wife saw the trailer behind the office building on their way home Friday night and were surprised to see it in Tecumseh.

He says he doesn't have the trailer and wouldn't steal anything.
