An architect with expertise in designing for downtown says Tulsa's downtown needs more people and less parking.
Alan Hart is an urban designer from Vancouver, Canada. He's in town at the invitation of Tulsa Now - a group pushing for change in Tulsa's city planning. He says Tulsa's downtown has lots of promise, but it's too disconnected with so much parking and so little connecting it to what's just outside.
Alan Hart: "So right now it's really isolated and it was isolated by the automobile about 40 years ago."
Hart said while big projects can help create a tax base - little projects help too, and even things like sidewalks influence how people feel about where they live.
