Family and friends mourn the loss of an 11 year old Tulsa boy, killed in a hit and run accident on Wednesday.
Tulsa Police say the Union 6th grader, Fabian Saenz was just out mowing his lawn, when a speeding car plowed into his front yard and killed him.
News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims visited with some of the victim’s relatives Thursday and as you can imagine the family is very distraught.
They say Fabian Saenz was a lovable little boy. And they just can’t believe something like this could happen to him. The 3600 block of 106th East Avenue was lined with cars. Relatives kept pouring in to offer condolences, some were overcome with tears at the site of the accident.
The smashed in garage is a gruesome reminder of what happened. Tulsa Police say a maroon Chrysler Sebring was speeding around a corner, when the driver lost control. Officers say the 14-year-old driver over-corrected, spun the car 180 degrees, hitting and killing Fabian Saenz.
His cousins’ say he was the kind of kid everyone adored. Louie Hernandez: "we lost something real important here. He was a good kid, an athlete, a Christian, everybody loved him.â€
The 14-year-old driver and the three other children who were in the car at the time of the crash were all taken into custody. They have now been released back to their parents.
