Welling Man Dies In Cherokee County Traffic Accident

COOKSON, Okla. (AP) -- A Welling man dies in a one-vehicle accident on a Cherokee County highway.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 45-year-old Eddie Collins was eastbound on State Highway 100 shortly after 1:30 AM. Saturday when he failed to negotiate a curve.

His pickup ran off the right side of the road for 165 feet before hitting a tree. Collins died at the scene.

The OHP says Collins had an odor of alcoholic beverage and that unsafe speed was the cause of the accident.
