OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The wait is over for an Oklahoma City motel housekeeper who found $7,600 while cleaning a room.
Mary Williamson turned the money over to police, who said the money would be hers if no one claimed it within 40 days. The wait ended this week and Williamson has the money.
She says she never thought about keeping the money when she found it inside a sandwich bag that was left in a drawer in a room at the Swank Motel in southeast Oklahoma City.
Motel manager Satish Patel says a man who rented the room apparently gave a false address, but returned to the motel to ask about the cash. Patel told the man the money was given to police and the man hasn't been heard from since.
Williamson says she hopes to find a larger home for her and her 8-year-old granddaughter and will buy school supplies for her granddaughter. Most of the remaining money is headed for a savings account.
