Charges have been filed against a suspect in the death of a 9-year-old Okemah girl.

The Okfuskee County District Attorney's Office has charged William Dobrovolny with first degree murder for allegedly strangling Katie Middleton.

Dobrovolny made his first court appearance in Okemah this afternoon.

According to court records Debrovolny confessed to strangling the girl.

Middleton left her house Friday to walk to the store... and was seen getting into Dobrovolny's car... She never returned home.

Middletonâ€™s autopsy revealed she died of strangulation. It also showed she was not sexually assaulted.

Family and friends grieved at Katie's funeral, held Wednesday.
