You might have seen all the trucks rolling out of Tulsa’s Centennial Park at 6th and Peoria over the past few weeks. But have you seen the 30 foot deep hole they're digging? It's all part of the city's last big flood control project.
The hole will become a lake with water in it year-round. Developers at the nearby Village condominiums saw a chance to make it beautiful as well as practical.
Jamie Jamieson says the lake and the park will have landscaping to rival that of Woodward Park at 21st and Peoria. “It'll be ornamental, it'll be very attractive and it's going to bring in builders and developers and retailers and small business owners and so on, so that pretty soon, faster than we think, we'll have a really vital neighborhood."
Jamieson says 350 truckloads are removing dirt and stone from the park every day.
