OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A health clinic in Muskogee is the Oklahoma winner of a contest among faith-based groups that provide services in communities.

Good Shepherd Health Clinic was recognized Tuesday for its work in providing health services to the poor who have little or no insurance. Good Shepherd board member Bill Miller says six doctors volunteer their time on a regular basis and are joined by nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals.

Good Shepherd is now a finalist for the national award and will receive $5,000 during a ceremony in Washington, DC.

A program by Olivet Baptists Church in Oklahoma City to help homeless mothers is runner-up. Other semifinalists are the Community of Hope UCC in Tulsa; Mother to Mother Ministry of Oklahoma County; and the Bethlehem House of Bread Shelter in Ardmore.
