News on 6 got a phone call this week about something called a water-less car wash and it made us wonder, how is it possible to wash cars without water?

News on 6 reporter Rick Wells was especially curious, maybe he was hoping he could get his car washed for free.

"This one product will clean seal polish and protect.â€ Craig Croke showed up with a spray bottle and a couple of rags, to show me a new way to wash my car, a water-less way. "We're gonna spray this product right on the dirt, we're gonna take a rag to it, we're gonna polish it and it will not scratch." So he did; wiped it with a clean towel then polished it with another micro-fiber rag, but he said a clean towel would work well too and it looked pretty good.

Kind of like washing and waxing in one step but he says this is better. â€œIf you use a wax and take your fingers and go like that, you're gonna mark it, with the polymer it will not mark."

I've washed my cars for years with a hose, a bucket of suds and a sponge. I'm still having trouble with the waterless part. "There is no water in it.â€ Rick Wells: â€œAnd no water required rinsing it off?" Craig Croke: "No water what so ever."

He used the same stuff on the glass inside and out. There were other products for the inside, but the basic stuff costs about $2 an ounce.

He says two ounces will do my car, so that is about the same cost as a high end drive through car wash. I started this story with a filthy car, now I have a filthy car with some clean spots. I'm not sure that's what I had in mind.
