OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A 14-year-old boy faces a first-degree murder count in the shooting death of a 16-year-old.
Prosecutors Monday charged Demetrius Arterberry, who's accused of fatally shooting Brad Mathis in southwest Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma City police say Mathis' mother found him about midnight June 30th after she returned from shopping. Mathis had been shot in the chest.
According to a police report, Arterberry told an officer he was at Mathis' home when the shooting occurred and accidentally shot Mathis when his gun discharged in his pants pocket. Arterberry later said the gun fired when he dropped it on the floor.
Police say the state Medical Examiner's office determined that the entry wound was at a downward trajectory, making both scenarios inconsistent with the evidence.
