OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Computer maker Dell gave Oklahoma City some more good economic news Tuesday.
Texas-based Dell says it plans to expand its customer contact operation in Oklahoma City with another 120,000 square foot building and will increase its local work force.
Dell's first building is set for completion this summer. The second building will be identical to the first and will open in early 2006.
Last year, Dell announced plans to hire up to 500 people. Four months later, Dell increased its employment projection to 700. Tuesday's announcement increases projections for the Oklahoma City call center to 1,000 workers.
Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett praised the announcement. Cornett says the expansion shows Dell's confidence in the city's work force and its commitment to the area.
