CHANDLER, Okla. (AP) A Lincoln County jury recommends a man it convicted on drug charges receive life in prison plus 245 years.
42-year-old Harlen Ray Evans was found guilty of conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine. The panel also recommended that the Wellston resident pay a $600,000 fine.
An Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control spokesman says Evans was one of the main targets of an investigation by local and state law enforcement agencies.
Mark Woodward says that over an 18-month period, the agency identified and targeted several suspects, including Evans, who were buying as much as three pounds of meth each week.
Woodward says several other defendants in the case are scheduled to go on trial.
