FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) An Oklahoma death row inmate pleads innocent in federal court to kidnapping and other charges stemming from the abduction of an Arkansas doctor and his wife.

Scott James Eizember appeared before a U.S. magistrate in Arkansas yesterday on two counts of kidnapping, and one count of carjacking.

He also faced one count of brandishing a firearm in connection with a crime of violence.

The judge appointed a public defender to the case and set an August 22nd trial date.

Eizember was convicted earlier this year of first-degree murder in the October 18th, 2003, bludgeoning death of A.J. Cantrell in Depew, Oklahoma, and sentenced to death.

The same jury convicted him of second-degree murder for the shotgun slaying of Cantrell's wife, Patsy, and sentenced him to 150 years in prison.
