As many as 40,000 AEP/PSO customers survived last weekend’s storms in Tulsa without power. That power is now back on.
PSO says outages weren't as bad as they could have been, thanks to some pre-storm preparation. In some neighborhoods, PSO's tree trimming program dramatically decreased how long the power was out and in some places, prevented outages altogether.
Stan Whiteford, AEP/PSO: "Customers were out sometimes 4 and 5 days, just 1 year ago, in the same parts of Tulsa, that we're now seeing turned out to be a 48 hour storm."
PSO says it will run out of tree trimming money in August. It is petitioning the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to double the tree trimming allowance. That would add an average of a $1.37 to your electric bill each month.
PSO hopes the increase will be approved by the end of June.
