NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Cleveland County prosecutors have charged a Texas man with grand larceny for allegedly stealing nearly $70,000 in diamonds from two Norman jewelry stores.
Authorities say 24-year-old Corey Scott Fitz of DeSoto, Texas, fits the description of a man who ran away from a Zales store in Sooner Mall after requesting to see a 1.52 carat diamond valued at $16,559 on May 18th.
On May 12th, a man grabbed two diamonds with a combined value of $31,540 from the same Zales counter and ran away after requesting to see them.
Authorities say on November 18th, a man at Lewis Jewelers requested to see two diamonds with a combined value of $21,147, grabbed them from the jeweler's hand and ran away.
The charge states that Fitz was identified through a photo lineup, and fingerprints that match his from a brochure dropped in one of the robberies also were found.
