OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma general reminds Oklahomans this Memorial Day to remember those who died while fighting to protect America.

Brigadier General Myles Deering encouraged a crowd at the 45th Infantry Division museum in Oklahoma City also to remember those military men and women who remain on the front lines.

A procession of color guard squads marched in time with a drumbeat to start the ceremony amongst tanks and military planes on the front lawn of the museum. Officials lay a wreath at the foot of a flag, which flew at half-staff.

Deering spoke of the thousands upon thousands of U.S. casualties in the wars from the American Revolution to World War II to Korea to Vietnam and Iraq.

He also challenged the crowd of more than 300 to recommit themselves based on the examples of sacrifice and honor.
