BOSTON (AP) -- A mobster convicted of killing a Tulsa businessman and nine other people says he and another mobster paid off FBI agents.
Stephen "The Rifleman" Flemmi says in two sworn depositions that he and James "Whitey" Bulger paid six FBI agents for protection. Flemmi's claims are in statements given for wrongful death lawsuits against the federal government over the FBI's handling of Bulger and Flemmi when they worked as mob informants for the agency.
Flemmi is serving life in prison for ten murders, including the 1981 killing of Roger Wheeler in Tulsa. Bulger has been on the FBI's most wanted list since disappearing in 1995.
