A project in the Vision 2025 plan is at a fundraising roadblock and backers hope a letter of support from the Tulsa city council will help.

The proposed American Indian Cultural Center is planned for a site at 71st and Elwood. The Center needs $12 million in donations to start building, but so far has been unable to raise any money for construction.

The Vision plan includes $2 million for road and utility work at the site, but that is on hold while the Cultural center's backers try to raise money.

Officials with the center say they will soon start applying for grant money.

They hope to get support from tribes, but many of them are already backing a similar Indian Cultural Center that has federal and state support. It's being built in Oklahoma City.
