A Muskogee couple is scheduled to be arraigned Friday by video for their daughter's death. The case brought investigators from Kansas City to Oklahoma to solve the case.
Kansas City prosecutors have charged the child's mother, Michelle Johnson, and stepfather Harrell Johnson with murder and endangering the welfare of a child. Investigators say Michelle told them Harrell was 'high' when he kicked 3-year-old Erica Green in the head.
She claims he later decapitated her. Kansas City police worked the case for more than four years.
The girl has now been identified and as Kansas City residents learned of the arrests they mourned her death again. Many paid their respects at a memorial close to where her body was found four years ago.
Erica Green's biological father is in the Muskogee County jail on an unrelated charge. Larry Green[pictured] tells the News on 6 he found out that something was wrong with his daughter from news reports. 6 in the Morning reporter Omar Villafranca says Larry Green is in shock about the death of his daughter. He told the News on 6 he met Michelle Johnson when they were both teenagers and they later had five children together. Little Erica was their youngest child.
Green says he's been in trouble for the past few years and hasn't seen his children much. But he says every time Michelle came to visit him, their children were never around and that raised his suspicions. "I'd been having dreams and visions of Erica, y' know, I was just wondering. Every time I seen her, she would never let me talk to her. She would always say that Erica was gone or with somebody, with my other daughters or something, she would just throw me off real quick."
Green says when he gets out of prison, he wants to make a new start and be involved in the lives of his other children.
