Kansas City Police are in Oklahoma investigating a brutal homicide that has baffled them for more than four years. They've received more than a thousand tips about a little girl that's come to be known as Precious Doe.

The child's decapitated and badly decomposed remains have never been identified. For the first time in the four year investigation, detectives have traveled outside Kansas City to Muskogee.

News on 6 anchor Tami Marler has been in Muskogee investigating this case and says Kansas City Police are taking the lead in this investigation and so far are being very tight lipped about why they are in Muskogee.

What we do know comes from law enforcement sources who spoke to use on condition of anonymity. They confirm that Kansas City authorities are here to talk with a Muskogee couple about the decapitated remains found in April of 2001.

The child's head was found in a trash sack nearby. Police reported received a tip from a relative of the Muskogee girl, who he believes is Precious Doe. He says she traveled to Kansas City with a Muskogee couple in 2001.

News on 6 sources say, 25 year old Harrell Johnson[pictured] was transported from the Wagoner County jail where he was being held on warrants ranging from public intoxication to driving without a valid license to the Muskogee Police Department, where Kansas City Police detectives questioned him. They're also questioning his wife, Michelle Johnson[pictured], who is being held in the Muskogee County jail. The tipster reportedly told investigators Michelle is Precious Doe's mother.

Police are being very tight lipped. Muskogee Police Sgt Shannon Humphrey: "The Muskogee Police Department is cooperating with the Kansas City Police Department that obviously happened in their jurisdiction into a possible homicide and the investigation is ongoing from here."

Behind the scenes, though, police say they feel good about how this investigation is going so far, but it could take a couple of days before we have any official word.
