Some Oklahoma fifth graders accused of plotting an attack on their school. It happened in Inola, where school administrators, police, and Rogers County Sheriff’s Office investigators are all still looking into a plan that may have involved bringing a gun to school.
News on 6 anchor Scott Thompson says parents called the News on 6 saying a group of fifth-grade boys had drawn up sketches of their school, and asked another boy to help them get a gun.
When that boy wouldn't help with their plan, there was a fight. That's when the boy's parents contacted the school principal and they were taken into custody.
A hearing was held Monday afternoon in Rogers County District Court, but the judge has put a gag order on the case, plus it's hard to get information on cases involving juveniles.
The boys haven't been in school since last Thursday. That's when the school turned over to police what their investigation had uncovered.
The Inola School superintendent says he's waiting on a judge's ruling before deciding if the kids should be suspended permanently. The superintendent says he's learned from experience that he has to take all threats seriously. He says he's seen kids copying the crimes they've seen on TV before and now less than a month since a deadly school shooting in Minnesota and just two days before the sixth anniversary of the Columbine killings, he wasn't ready to take any chances.
