The leader of Tulsa's catholic diocese is back from the pope's funeral in Rome. Bishop Edward Slattery arrived at the Tulsa airport Sunday night and talked with the News on 6 about his experience.
He says it was amazing to see so many young people who made sacrifices in order to pay their respects to the Pope. Many of them were exhausted from driving day and night just to be there. "We experienced first hand the devotion of so many young people over a million I'm sure. I don't know the exact count, but when I was looking down fro the sanctuary, the steps of St. Peter's I could see a sea of people all the way to the horizon, it's hard to believe."
Pope John Paul ordained Bishop Slattery in Rome in 1994.
