Our "Oklahoma Poll" asked likely voters if they would support Proposition Six. If the bond vote was today only 45 percent said they would vote for the last part of the bond. 38 percent said they would vote it down and 17 percent said they hadn't yet made up their minds.

It's by far the least popular proposition on the ballot but the money from it would go to fund some of Tulsa's most popular attractions.

If approved, the Gilcrease Museum would get about a 1.5 Million dollars to pave a parking lot that right now is just a pile of dirt and to add lighting and security equipment. But, the most important improvement to the Gilcrease curators is the new air conditioning and heating units for the museum, because that will help preserve priceless treasures.

Joe Schenk: "Some of the units are 30 years old. The really have exceeded their life. The city has done a great job of maintaining things, but we're living on borrowed time. A unit could shut down at any time, putting our collection in jeopardy... putting other loaned materials in jeopardy."

Schenk says without a dependable heating and cooling system, some exhibits may refuse to come to Tulsa.

Money from Proposition Six would also repair roofs on city buildings and remodel an old water treatment plant into city offices.
