OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Democrats in the state Senate say they'll announce plans tomorrow to pay for road and bridge improvements in the state.
Senate President Pro Tem Mike Morgan and other Democrats say the plan will guarantee the state Department of Transportation gets one-point-three (b) billion dollars for road and bridge maintenance. The money would be distributed during the next 15 years.
The state House has already approved a bill to take part of the 600 (m) million dollars collected in vehicle tag fees and use the money for road and bridge repair. And a separate group collected signatures on a petition calling for a statewide vote to increase gas and diesel taxes to pay for the repairs.
Tomorrow's announcement will be at the Paoli exit on Interstate 35 where a chunk of concrete fell from an overpass in July and killed a Texas woman when it crashed into her car.
