MIAMI, Okla. (AP) _ A Missouri man is fighting extradition to Oklahoma where he's charged with murder in the death of a 15-month-old girl in Miami.
Travis Steed is jailed in Rogers, Arkansas, where he was arrested Wednesday night. Ottawa County District Attorney Eddie Wyant says he'll start extradition proceedings today to get Steed returned to Oklahoma.
Steed is charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of McKenna Jayde White at a motel in Miami where Steed and the girl's mother were living.
Investigators say the mother was returning from a trip to Missouri and was arguing with Steed during a telephone call because the mother refused to drive to Arkansas to buy methamphetamine for Steed.
