Missouri man arrested in child's death in Oklahoma

MIAMI, Okla. (AP) -- A Missouri man charged in the beating death of a 15-month-old girl in northeastern Oklahoma is now in custody in Arkansas.

Ottawa County officials say Travis Steed was arrested in Rogers, Arkansas, on a first-degree murder warrant from Ottawa County.

He's charged in the death of McKenna Jayde White in Miami. The girl was found Sunday lying face down in her playpen. Police say they found bruises to the girl's ear, head, forehead, cheek, chest, thigh and under both arms.

A medical examiner's report says McKenna died from blunt-force trauma to her face and head and had a five-and-a-half inch skull fracture.

Police say the girl's mother and Steed lived together and the mother had left McKenna with him while she went to Missouri to pick up her three other children.
