OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A state House panel deadlocks on legislation that would beef up consumer protections for owners of faulty cars and trucks.
The bill's author Representative Rex Duncan withdrew his lemon law bill from the state House Rules Committee after members voted 5 to 5 to send it to the full House for a vote.
The measure reduces the time a new car is in the shop before it's classified as a lemon from 45 days to 30 days.
It also drops a requirement in last year's bill that manufacturers pay the attorney fees of consumers who successfully sue them over a lemon.
Duncan says he will ask for another hearing before the committee next week.
