TAFT, Okla. (AP) -- A Muskogee man is dead after the sport utility vehicle he was riding in crashed near the Muskogee County town of Taft early Friday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Darrell Yates was killed about 5:30 AM in the accident on a county road near the Jess Dunn Correctional Center.

Troopers say the driver of the SUV drove past a "Road Closed" sign and hit a large dirt barricade. The SUV then flipped and landed on its top in a dry creek bed.

Investigators say the road was closed for bridge repair.

The driver and another passenger are both hospitalized in stable condition.
