A former Muskogee County prosecutor faces charges of drug possession and perjury. Janet Bickel was indicted by a multi-county grand jury.

The indictment accuses her of stealing methamphetamine from a crime scene in Tahlequah, then trying to cover up the theft.

Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson: "this is for possession, and it's possession of meth that was recovered from a crime scene, that instead of staying in the chain of custody and going to law enforcement for prosecution, we allege ended up in Ms Bickel's purse for personal use."

Bickel was a special prosecutor who handled the highly publicized "Ryan Luke" child abuse case several years ago in McAlester.

Her attorney has said she intends to plead not guilty.
