CONWAY, Ark. (AP) _ A former criminal investigator in Arkansas is asking Tulsa Police and the Arkansas State Police to reopen a 30-year-old murder case.

Jerry Snow wants to find out if a man jailed in Tulsa might have been involved in the killing of an 18-year-old hitchhiker in Faulkner County, Arkansas.

Paul Williford is in jail in Tulsa on charges of assaulting an elderly woman and is a suspect in the killings of two other elderly women who lived on his newspaper delivery route. Williford told an Oklahoma newspaper he had strangled a hitchhiker named ``Debbie'' in Arkansas in 1969, but he later took back that claim.

Snow has contacted authorities to see if the claim could be related to the case of Deborah Summers, who was found shot to death in 1975 by the side of the road in Faulkner County.

There are at least two big discrepancies _ the year of the killing and the method.

It's unclear if authorities will reopen the case but Tulsa police detective Eddie Majors says if Arkansas authorities want to question, they can.
