OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Almost $17-million in education lottery proceeds is in the bank.

The Oklahoma Lottery Commission says it transferred $16.7-million Friday to the state treasurer for deposit into the Oklahoma Education Lottery Trust Fund.

The money represents the first of what will be a regular quarterly transfer of funds raised from lottery ticket sales. The Oklahoma lottery kicked off in October with the sale of scratch-off tickets. The state jointed the Powerball network this week.

Governor Brad Henry pushed lottery proposals through the Legislature and they were approved by voters in 2004.

Friday's transfer represents 30 percent of gross lottery sales of $55.6-million from October through December.
