CRESCENT, Okla. (AP) -- The Crescent police chief is arrested Tuesday after being accused of raping a teenage girl.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says 38-year-old James Leonard Bell turned himself into authorities at the Logan County Courthouse. He's facing one charge of second-degree rape.

After being booked, he was released on $5,000 bond.

The OSBI says they conducted a month-long investigation of Bell after being contacted by the Logan County District Attorney's office.

A spokeswoman for the agency says their investigation is continuing.

Bell resigned his position with the city on Saturday.
