There is some heated opposition to a plan to consolidate four north Tulsa schools.
The school board on Monday evening, heard from citizens on a proposal to merge Gilcrease and Monroe Middle Schools, and Greeley and Houston Elementary Schools. The board says the moves are necessary because of decreasing enrollment.
Some parents say the move would hurt the schools. In addition, they say the board has not done enough to gather citizens' input.
State Senator Judy Eason McIntyre: "This community is sick and tired of being sick and tired. There has been plan after plan and they're well-meaning plans but they go nowhere."
Some of the board members said they needed more time to look at the consolidation plan. The matter has been tabled for another week.
