A Tulsa family has a Christmas story they'll tell for many years to come. An uncle home on leave from the US Air Force saved his toddler nephew.

News on 6 anchor Craig Day talked with the family and says they have an extra reason to be filled with joy this Christmas. About a week ago, 20 month old Jacob Wilder had a 105 degree temperature. It caused him to have a seizure and quit breathing.

His quick thinking uncle, Airman First Class Seth Shan, calmly worked to clear the baby's airway and get him calmed down. Shan just recently underwent a refresher lifesaving course required by the military. It paid off. "I just noticed he wasn't breathing and that's a scary sight to see a baby sitting there blue in the face, not breathing."

Jacob’s mother Stephanie Wilder: "If we had lost minutes, with Seth not being here, I don't even want to think about what would have happened."

Little Jacob is doing fine. Airman First Class Shan will leave in early January to return to England.

He told the News on 6, he is expected to be sent to Iraq in February.
