OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Authorities say a man leaped off a bridge and died after a weather-related traffic accident on Interstate 40.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lieutenant Pete Norwood says the man's name isn't being released because his relatives haven't been notified. His family is thought to be in Mexico.
Norwood says the man crashed a stolen van on I-40 about 4 AM Monday.
He says the van had been reported stolen in Midwest City, where the man was working in construction. It sideswiped another vehicle in a crash attributed to unsafe speed and icy conditions.
Authorities are still investigating the accident. Norwood says a witness told troopers the man tried to drive away, but the impact had disabled the van.
He fled on foot, jumped over the side of the bridge and fell onto a concrete embankment about 82 feet below.
