OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The State Board of Education is planning to ask the Legislature for nearly $16 million in supplemental appropriations.
The board agreed Tuesday to submit the request to lawmakers.
They say more than half of the money would be used to cover an increase in diesel fuel costs for buses.
More than $6 million would be used to pay for teacher pay increases approved by the Legislature last year that weren't annualized in the agency's budget.
The Department of Education is also studying an increase in heating costs at schools. Officials say additional funds to cover those costs could be added to the supplemental request.
