Changes are being made to an apartment complex on Riverside Drive in Tulsa, but changing the opinions of nearby homeowners might not be so easy.

The Legacy at Riverview at 3200 South Riverside Drive, formerly known as the Place One Apartments, is getting a facelift. They were bought with the help of county industrial bonds. 75 percent of the units are required to be available to people who make less than the median income.

Brookside resident Amy Tidwell says she's seen a lot of suspicious-looking people in the neighborhood. As a real estate agent, she feels it's a simple fact. “There’s no way around it, it is what it is. You put in low-income housing; it's going to lower everything around it."

The apartment managers say once renovations are complete, the rent scale will go up about a hundred dollars. And they say they don't rent to anyone with evictions or bounced checks in their histories.
