FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) -- An Arkansas doctor and his wife testify in the federal kidnapping trial of an Oklahoma death row inmate.
Doctor Samuel Peebles and his wife Suzanne told jurors in a federal courtroom in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Monday that Scott Eizember pulled a pistol on them after they stopped to pick him up on the side of the road.
Eizember is charged in Arkansas with kidnapping, carjacking and a weapons violation.
Eizember already was convicted of first-degree murder earlier this year in Oklahoma of beating 76-year-old AJ Cantrell to death at Cantrell's home in Depew. Eizember also was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 150-years for the shooting death of Cantrell's 76-year-old wife, Patsy.
Eizember was arrested in November 2003 near Lufkin, Texas, after Samuel Peebles shot him with a gun he kept hidden in his van.
