Saturday was a big day for the University of Tulsa. The football team won the Conference USA championship. It was TU's first conference championship since it won the Missouri Valley Conference in 1985. They will now play in the Liberty Bowl on New Year's Eve in Memphis.

News on 6 reporter Rick Wells headed for TU to check on ticket sales.

"Hurricane Athletics, this is Rochelle.” Now the phones at the TU ticket office are jumping. “I don’t' have an exact location as of today, I can tell you they will be sideline seats."

Shawn Pfannenstiel, the Director of ticket sales at TU, says there will be plenty of Liberty Bowl Tickets and the hope is, plenty of fans will want to go. "I wanna see more blue than red in the stands hopefully; give us a home field advantage over there.” Over there, is of course Memphis, that's the home of the Liberty Bowl.

"So you need a total of 11 altogether?"

Memphis is also home to Graceland, which was home to Elvis. It's the home of Beale Street, a blues Mecca. And the Peabody Hotel is home to those ducks that spend their days swimming in the hotel fountain. You'll want to see that if you go.

"How many do you need?”

Remember when TU football was a door mat, not any more. The championship T-shirts are on sale out at the Hurricane Haven and fans waited in the cold to get them.

Desiree Graves with Sunbelt Sports: "We had quite a few people waiting for us to open up the store." And head coach football Steve Kragthorpe had his on Saturday.

High times at TU, conference champs, who are now headed to the Liberty Bowl.

Don't forget, the game is at noon on New Year's Eve, so plenty of time to celebrate on Beale Street. Ticket and travel packages are still being put together.
