History's biggest expansion of Medicare is still causing some big headaches. Medicare Part "D" focuses on making prescriptions affordable for older Americans.
Enrollment for Part "D" started in early November. The problem is many people are still too confused by all the options, to sign up for a plan.
News on 6 anchor Scott Thompson explains how a Tulsa group is helping.
The confusion begins when you find Oklahoma has 42 different plans. Each comes with different premiums, deductibles and lists of the prescriptions they'll cover. Seniors filled the seats at a seminar Wednesday, hoping to pin down the right plan before the May 15, 2006 deadline to enroll.
Senior Ben Weddington: "But I don't think the thing is gonna be solved by a seminar, or on the phone. I think you'll have to go to your doctor with what you think you understand, and have him tell you if you're right or wrong."
Every seat at Wednesday’s seminar was taken, but Life Senior Services says it still has some spots open at two other upcoming seminars.
One is next Wednesday at their Southminster Center at 3500 South Peoria and the other, Monday the 19th at the Life Senior Services headquarters at 5950 East 31st Street.
To save a seat, call 664-9000.
