Some Bixby kids have a new reason to be excited about reading.
Children's poet Ken Nesbitt visited Brassfield Elementary School in Bixby Wednesday. The school applied for a grant to bring in an author who could pump the kids up about reading and writing.
Nesbitt says his writing is aimed at doing just that and making sure kids have fun when they read. "I hope they come away from this knowing poetry isn't boring the poetry doesn't just have to be about flowers and trees and falling in love and getting married."
Nesbitt says he tries to do "stand up comedy" for kids that shows them they can have just as much fun with a book as they can with a video game.
