OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A couple of state lawmakers say they're concerned that illegal immigration may be affecting Oklahoma's job market.
Senator Tom Adelson of Tulsa and Representative Lance Cargill of Harrah will launch a study tomorrow to determine how Oklahoma can better enforce illegal immigration laws. The study will focus on labor markets, particularly trade industries.
Speakers will discuss how illegal immigration impacts wage and unemployment as well as some of its peripheral effects. That includes increased burden on health care and social services.
Speakers will include an attorney for the Federation of American Immigrant Reform and a professor of labor economics at Cornell University.
