CASHION, Okla. (AP) -- Residents in the Kingfisher County town of Cashion are being told their drinking water has high levels of nitrates in it.
Officials with the state Department of Environmental Quality say high levels of nitrate have been found in the water the town gets from Logan County Rural Water District Number 2.
Police Chief Ronald Nelson says nitrate has been a problem in the water supply. He says pregnant women and children younger than 6 months should be using bottled water.
DEQ officials say the water should not be boiled because that could increase the level of nitrates.
