The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office says it's not responsible for a paperwork mix-up that let an 18 year old go free for a short time this week.
Rene Serrano was an inmate at the Rader juvenile center in Sand Springs when he got into a fight with another inmate. Sand Springs Police arrested him and took him to the Tulsa County jail.
The next day, the District Attorney declined to file charges for the fight, so the jail let him go. The jail says it had no choice, because it hadn't been given the proper paperwork requesting Serrano be held.
A warrant was then issued for Serrano on a separate charge and the Tulsa County jail realized the mistake and got him back in custody.
